FootJoy, which has enjoyed a long history as one of the top brands in golf outerwear, has introduced two new major rainwear tops that break new ground in technical advancement and comfort for the fall of 2019.
The DryJoys® Select LS is the lightest and most breathable waterproof rain jacket that FootJoy has ever produced, notes the company, but the extreme light weight nature of the new Japanese technology fabrication makes this jacket even lighter than most golf shirts.
A marked improvement from the Gor-Tex tops of even a few years ago, this jacket almost feels like you are not wearing it—yet offers full 100% waterproof protection from the elements from the 2.5 Layer Construction that makes this premium jacket so comfortable, breathable and thin—yet protects from the elements.
“This product is all about the fabric, with a simple design and a primary focus on performance that went through three years of testing and validation,” said PJ Skurla, Senior Apparel Designer for FJ. “It is the ultimate waterproof layering shell that is so light, it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything at all.”
The feedback from touring pros has been positive for FootJoy. Webb Simpson wore the Select LS at the Open Championship this year and raved about the new outerwear.
“I played through some of the most challenging weather conditions of my career at this year’s Open Championship,” noted Simpson. “Blustery winds and rain coming from every direction, but the new Select LS delivered the protection I needed and kept me focused on my next shot.”
The Select LS offers enhanced premium trims and bonded seam technology with a waterproof main zipper, waterproof hand pockets and comes with a two-year waterproof warranty. The Select LS line is offered in three full-zip rain jackets, two half-zip rain shirts and rain paints.
Equally as comfortable and designed with a modern– but classic touch– the new FJ HydroKnit rain pullover offers the feel of a mid-layer but feels like something you could wear in your office. It is the most versatile outerwear piece that FootJoy offers as a rain top and makes a nice addition to stow in a golf bag for those unexpected showers.
The HydroKnit uses a high-quality 3-Layer Bonded Knit Construction that is incredibly lightweight and comfortable in a variety of conditions. In addition, the 4-way stretch material allows full freedom of motion during the golf swing.
HydroKnit uses a durable water repellent face coating in conjunction with its breathable fabrics to force water to bead up, preventing the outer layer from becoming saturated, while also keeping the player comfortable. The 3-Layer Bonded Face Lamination eliminates any water going through the garment and is 100% wind and waterproof.
“We wanted to engineer the highest quality rain knit that would earn the distinctive FJ stamp–and this fabric accomplishes that goal,” said Whitney Trimble, Senior Director, FootJoy Apparel. “The story around this piece is its versatility. It has the soft feel and great stretch of our popular mid-layers, with the all-weather performance of a rain jacket.”
The HydroKnit pullover also features a pieced elastic waistband that ensures improved comfort and flexibility; Raglan sleeves for non-restricted movement during the golf swing; it is seam sealed for complete waterproofing and has a zip back pocket for golf accessories and scorecard.
Available in four colors, the HydroKnit also has a two-year 100% waterproof warranty.
